The Book
"Through the Looking-Glass" by Lewis Carroll — Free on Project Gutenberg.
This is the source of the Red Queen character that inspired the name of 0x307's data platform (therq.io). In the story, the Red Queen tells Alice: "It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place."
This is the perfect metaphor for the competitive dynamics of agentic commerce: data companies that don't adopt the new infrastructure won't just fall behind — they'll have to run faster and faster just to stay where they are, while competitors who deploy first pull further ahead with every passing month.
The "Red Queen Effect" in evolutionary biology (and business strategy) describes systems where constant adaptation is required just to maintain relative fitness. 0x307's first-mover moat is the inverse: deploy first, and the network effects do the running for you.
